Why 1789 Land
At 1789 Land Company, we believe in building legacies rooted in history and vision. The year 1789 was a turning point for the United States, marking the inauguration of George Washington, the adoption of the Bill of Rights, and North Carolina’s ratification of the Constitution—officially becoming the 12th state.
It was also the year the first public university, the University of North Carolina, was established (Go Heels!). Inspired by this spirit of foundation and growth, we chose 1789 as part of our name as a tribute to the values of independence, opportunity, and the pioneering spirit that continue to shape the land we invest in today.
